I’m interested in:
Abstract Sentimentalism -- Collaging, repeating, and deconstructing moments of intense, character-driven emotion, often to the point of abstraction. The inner-life of characters in crisis.
Urgency -- Performance that could only happen here in this place and now at this moment. Performance with high velocity. Every moment as the most important moment of a character’s life. Site-specificity.
Immersion -- Blurring the lines between spectator and spectacle. Jarring audiences out of comfortable modes of consumption. Unexpected audience autonomy.
Dialectics -- The right answer is always a blend of many possible answers. Forcing various source-texts to speak to one another. Conversations between texts, between performers, between performers and the audience, and between audience members.
Chaos -- Cacophony. Ever-expanding theatrical worlds. Mania. Non-linearity.
Community -- Collaborative devising processes. Accessible material & productions.
Humanity -- The nuance of how people are. How humans present, justify, thrive, commune, exploit, and deviate. Empathy as a overarching, ongoing project.
I am the founder and artistic director of Ceaseless Fun, an LA-based immersive performance company. Also, I’m on the founding board of directors for the League of Experiential and Immersive Artists. Also also, I lead a bi-monthly viewpoints/ensemble devising jam: Soft Focus. I am available as a director, associate director, dramaturg, or immersive consultant for performances, events, VR, and everything in between.
