A Ceaseless Fun Production in collaboration with O' Project Space

The Rose Theater Presents... was a devised, interactive performance created in response to visual artist Matthew Haywood’s solo exhibition at O’ Project Space: Rose Theater. Using Haywood’s paintings as inspiration and fodder, we generated a farcical exploration of semiotics, nostalgia, and meaningness.

According to Haywood, the Rose Theater is “a theater that exists only in the mind” where “work is the reward, the object its ghost, and the image its memory.” Stuck in a dream, the Rose Theater Players prepare for their first performance. They are intent on creating for you, something heartbreaking and spectacular and activating. But between the lines they haven’t memorized and a past world threatening to swallow up the present, the end of the show seems further away now than ever.
